midday update

your pretty staffies

the day that we met Nico

hello lovely world!

just like the JCs so kindly let you guys know (thank you amazing jc’s!), the first full day – yesterday – went by perfectly! the day was planned by the staff and included name games where we played with a huge parachute and lots of balloons. we also made nice placemats so that we know who’ll sit where when we eat.

in the evening we met a boy called Nico who did everything wrong. all the delegations made skits that showed all the things nico did (the kids were absolutely amazing actors!) and then all of us talked about how we think we should behave in situations like the ones Nico ended up in. this way the camp agreed on some camp rules that we will follow, for example “treat others with respect“, “be on time” etc. in the end of the activity Nico came back and we told him all the things we had learned.

here are some nice pictures from the day. enjoy!

with lots of love,

the staff

Kids have arrived!!!

Hi! Yesterday the kids arrived to the camp but they didn´t know what was waiting for them. After a guide tour of the campsite, the kids went to the gym. Then, the JC´s welcomed them with a magical atmosphere and performed for them a “tribal” show, in which they were accepted in the metamorfose village.

Today we have started our schedule, actually it’s very busy. Everything was OK! Today we have made our fire drill and it worked. We also had our first activities with the kids and they did like them. And all of the kids had shower, too!

The next days will be VERY busy, and everyone here´s having LOTS of fun!

We´ll start to upload some pics, too.

Bye bye to everyone! The JC´s

july 5th!

The amazingly lazy JCs say HI everyone!

Today is Guillermo’s birthday so we woke him up with waterguns… and then we ate cake! We’ve also planned some activities for the children who will arrive tomorrow. We went to Mari Kristine’s house to barbecue and everyone started to make some arrangements about our welcoming the children tomorrow. Thats it for today….we are eating tons of chocolate cake, so we will get fat soon.

Kisses and hugs!

cooking up a village!

Staff here…

As we write our assembled leaders group is in the kitchen. They are cooking. They don’t exactly have a recipe and some of them may not be expert chefs but from where we’re sitting it smells pretty nice. In literal terms they are cooking us dinner (and we’re pretty hungry). But, they are not just cooking us dinner. In that kitchen, right now, the recipe for a great village is being put into action. Our group is laughing, sharing stories, getting to know one another and getting comfortable.

So what are we doing here?!

We’re off to join the cooking party.
Bye.

slemmestad barneskole

Hallo!

Velkommen til årets barneleir på Slemmestad barneskole! This will be brilliant! Sparkling! The staff and the chapter have been working like crazy and we are just about ready for your arrival! We wanted to share some…

Fun facts about Slemmestad Barneskole:

1. The hallways are organized by colour: red, blue, orange, yellow and…surprise!
2. There is a big chessboard outside. A really big chessboard. Like, huge.
3. Slemmestad is the name of the town where we will be (in case you didn’t know).
4. Barneskole is the word for childrenschool in Norwegian (in case you don’t speak Norwegian)
5. The name of Slemmestad derives from “slime”, which was found in the town’s stream back in the old days
6. Slemmestad Barneskole is close to a slime factory. They make lots of slime everyday. Believe us?
7. In Slemmestad there are lots of cool tourist activities such as visiting the cement museum, the beautiful toje beach and our village open day (26th of July).
8. And the locals are real friendly.
9. What time does it get dark? Never. What time does it get light? Always. (Almost)
10. Your camp staff are really cool (in case you didn’t get that already) And multilingual.

Now it’s bedtime for your loving staff. We need our beauty sleep so that we can be fully prepared (and really beautiful…like, totally hot) for the arrival. It’s going to be great. We wish the delegations and JCs wonderful journeys. We can’t wait to greet you here at Slemmestand Barneskole.

//Your lovely loving staff.

Two Week Count-Down

Well, it is t-minus two weeks which means things are getting serious. You leaders are probably making final preparations with familes and chapters, calming your delegates anxieties and maybe even trying to sooth some of yoru own.

Parents, you’re probably wondering what the house will be like without your son or daughter for a month. Maybe you’re wondering whether he or she will like Norwegian food. Maybe you are worried that he or she will be homesick. Maybe you’re worried that he or she will not be homesick. Regardless, I know you’re wondering at least a few things.

And you, the lovely JC’s. What are you up to during these last two weeks. Most likely you’re finishing up (or even more likely starting) your JC booklets that you will share with the camp. Trying to figure out how to present yourself in one little brochure is a tough task, isn’t it! You might be wondering how much sleep you will get per week at the village and whether the delegates will think you’re cool. Maybe you’re trying to recall all your favourite energizers. Without doubt, you’re beaming with excitement and, no question, your friends are jealous.

But what about us? What about your lovely, loving staff? What are we up to during these past two weeks before we all arrive at the same little school in the same little city in the same (not-so) little country? Good question. We’re working on all sorts of things! Like busy little elves, we’re preparing things like kitchen plans, songbooks, materials for cultural sessions, camp excursions, home-stays and plenty more. We’re working non-stop from our respective corners of the world (Alex in Canada, Louise in Sweden, Jane in the USA, Ernesto in Costa Rica and Mari-Kristine in Norway). But don’t worry, just because we’re far apart doesn’t mean we can’t work together as team. Also, we’re all arriving in Norway four days before any of you, so we’ll have lots of time to continue making big plans!

Let us know what you’re up to for the next two weeks!

Leave a little comment on the blog to let us know you checked it out!

love from your staff.

Hi guys!

We know after receiving pre-camp 3 a lot of you will come here and check the site out! So we just wanted to leave a post here to tell you to keep checking, for what’s in store!

Cheers!
